We’re not the same, dear
As we used to be
The seasons have changed
And so have we
And there was little we could say
And even less that we could do
To stop the ice from getting thinner
Under me and you

We buried our love
In a wintery grave
A lump in the snow
Was all that remained
Though we stayed by its side
As the days turned to weeks
And the ice kept getting thinner
With ever word that we’d speak

And when the spring arrived
We were taken by surprise
When the floes under our feet
Bled into the sea
And nothing was left
For you and me

We’re not the same, dear
And it seems to me
There’s nowhere we can go
With nothing underneath
And it saddens me to say
What we both knew was true
That the ice was getting thinner
Under me and you

The ice was getting thinner
Under me and you

What Sarah Said - Death Cab for Cutie

And it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes in the ICU that reeked of piss and 409
And I rationed my breaths as I said to myself that I’d already taken too much today
As each descending peak on the LCD took you a little farther away from me
Away from me

Amongst the vending machines and year-old magazines in a place where we only say goodbye
It stung like a violent wind that our memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds
But I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose than to have never lain beside at all
And I looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the TV entertained itself

'Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room
Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news
And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads
But I’m thinking of what Sarah said that “Love is watching someone die”

So who’s going to watch you die?

Summer Skin- Death Cab For Cutie

“…then labor day came and went and we shed what was left of our summer skin.”

How I wish you could see the potential;
The potential of you and me.
It’s like a book elegantly bound, but
In a language that you can’t read
Just yet.

Probably “Doe Deer” though I do like most of them.

"Run, run, run away. Lost, lost, lost in my mind. Want you to stay, want you to be my prize"

Never, unfortunately. What I would give to have been alive when they toured with The Wall. My dad got to see them do that in New York. Very jealous!

I saw the music video for “The Ghost of You,” and I then learned my dad had gotten their CD for free when he signed up for some music thing.

I read about them in Rolling Stone, it was about the music video for “Knights of Cydonia,” so I checked it out.

Just sitting around with my family, listening to his music, laughing hysterically.
